IKEA supplier to build plant in Mexico

The European company Ikano Group, owner of Ikano Industry –IKEA supplier-, will build its first production plant in Mexico, which will be financed by HSBC with a “green loan”.

The facility will be built in Ramos Arizpe, Coahuila, and will allow it to produce mattresses and sofas for IKEA stores in North America.

“The fact that the financing has conditions that make it” green “allows us as a banking institution not only to support the arrival of Ikano Industry in Mexico, but also to accompany it in the development of infrastructure that from the beginning of its construction and until its Future operation considers the efficient use of resources, cleaner technologies and more sustainable processes, ”said José Irragorri, deputy general director of Corporate Banking at HSBC México.

The production plant in Mexico will be Ikano Industry’s third in the world and will be located in an industrial complex in Ramos Arizpe. It will start operating in the second quarter of 2021 and its construction will have the LEED Gold certification, due to the degree of sustainability that it will incorporate into its various processes.

Some of the characteristics of the complex that will make the new facilities worthy of this certification are the following: use of renewable energy, from solar panels, efficient use and responsible management of water, reuse of waste in the production and recycling process and gardens desert with endemic vegetation.
