Ikea open again in NRW – mass rush to furniture stores – “This is ridiculous”

Ikea has reopened in NRW. The rush is big.

The doors are open again at Ikea in NRW. Since Wednesday, the stores in NRW have been selling again.
The rush for the IkeaLocations in North Rhine-Westphalia have been enormous since Wednesday. Now is the weekend and on Saturdays hell is going on at Ikea anyway. Customers have to adjust to measures.
Ikea in NRW: incredible scenes at the reopening!
On Twitter, it was announced that the health of their customers and employees was the most important thing. That is why they have developed a comprehensive safety and hygiene concept, says the furniture store.
These are the most important cornerstones of the concept:
- maximum one person per 20 square meters of retail space
- continuous announcements indicate to customers that the safety distance of 1.5 meters is observed
- The gastro offer and the play area for children remain closed until further notice
- plexiglass panes were attached to all checkouts and counters
- Employees receive face masks and gloves, and disinfectants are provided
- the previous regular opening times apply as far as possible

“We know that many customers have been waiting for our furniture stores to reopen. In order to avoid a rush at the beginning as much as possible, we ask that you use the first few days after opening carefully, ”says Dennis Balslev, the managing director of Ikea Germany.
Customers should rather visit the store alone or with a maximum of one other person accompanied.

To implement the plans, Ikea decided to open the doors on Wednesday. And as you would expect, there were long queues in front of the furniture store.
Rush at Ikea
A customer shared a video on Twitter from the Ikea entrance in Cologne at 10 a.m. “It is irresponsible to me, there were well over 500 people in line,” he reports. This picture also appeared in front of other branches in NRW. At Ikea in Essen there was also a very long line in front of the furniture store on Wednesday. A short shopping at the Swedish dealer was out of the question.
Ikea also came up with something for parking in Essen. Only every second parking space was allowed to be used, in between there were stopper cones.
Many users see this critically, they simply think the decision of the NRW Prime Minister Armin Laschet is wrong. Or do the people in the snakes not understand:
- “Unfortunately, the measures will not be enough to ensure the safety of employees and customers. Too bad. Opening up is the wrong decision. “
- “People, if a shop like Ikea MAY open, it doesn’t mean that you MUST go there”
- “Ikea has opened and playgrounds remain closed. That’s ridiculous”
