According to the Chamber of Industry and Commerce, more than half of the companies in Offenbach expect a major drop in sales, and almost a third want to reduce staff.

The consequences of the corona virus hit the companies in the city and district of Offenbach with full force – this is shown by an economic survey by the local Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK).

According to the survey, 55 percent of companies expect sales to drop by more than ten percent. 57 percent want to cut back investments, 29 percent cut personnel and almost two thirds of the companies assume that exports will decline. “The easing is a first glimmer of hope, but in many cases it is still not enough for a profitable operation,” says the managing director of the IHK Offenbach, Markus Weinbrenner. According to Weinbrenner, many entrepreneurs will face another tough month.

According to the Chamber of Industry and Commerce, the crisis is a “blow to all industries”. Investments are suspended due to the overall lower demand, supply chains are interrupted. According to the Federal Employment Agency, 28 percent of companies in the Offenbach district already reported short-time work in April.
