iFixit experts disassembled AirPods Max – Wylsacom

Specialists iFixit disassembled brand new AirPods Max headphones. So far, this is not a traditional assessment of the maintainability of a device at home, but a kind of first glance without explanation. But it’s still interesting to look at the internals of the device.

First they took x-rays of the headphones. It was helped by friends of iFixit from Creative Electron:

It should be noted here that in the right cup there are two batteries at once on the sides of the driver. IFixit doesn’t know how to compensate for the weight in the left cup. From my own experience, I can say that there is no imbalance between them – the weight in the headphones is evenly distributed. One iFixit reader suggested that Apple is simply cutting less aluminum in the left cup. It sounds logical.

You can find four screws under each ear cushion. Here’s a photo I took to review these headphones:

Due to the screws, it seems like taking apart the headphones is a snap. However, this is not quite true. At least the iFixit specialists had to slightly warm up the headphones with a heat gun to warm up the glue:
