“It is essential not to sow them”. In a press release published on August 20, the Ministry of Agriculture warns about mysterious seeds shipped from China to French individuals.
“These seeds of unknown origin can be vectors of diseases not present on French territory or turn out to be invasive plants. This is why it is essential not to sow them above all”, indicates the text. If you receive one of these sachets, it is recommended to “place it in a plastic bag and throw this tightly closed bag in your household garbage so that the seeds are destroyed”. If you have been in contact with the seeds, the ministry advises you to “wash your hands well and, if necessary, disinfect any object that has been in contact with them”.

The Ministry of Agriculture asks individuals to send photos of shipping slips of packaging and sachets containing the seeds before disposing of them. The photos must be sent to the National Veterinary and Phytosanitary Investigations Brigade of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food at the following email address: [email protected]. These shipments also concern the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Israel.
