Neymar is one of the greatest footballers of his generation. At the same time, the Brazilian often makes headlines off the pitch with his party visits. For him, however, the excursions into the nightlife are performance-enhancing.

Before the “Classique” against Marseille, Neymar had to skip training because of gastrointestinal flu. The Brazilian therefore sat on the bench in his team’s 2-0 win on Sunday. Perhaps his physical ailments were simply the aftermath of an extravagant feast.

Last Friday, “Ney” celebrated its 29th birthday. Anyone who knows him knows that he does not hold back on such occasions. His New Year’s Eve party recently hit big waves: The soccer star was planning a gigantic celebration with 500 guests on his property near Rio, which in Corona times was for Outrage caused. The PSG playmaker countered the critics at the time and assured them that the guests would be tested and that the regulations regarding social distancing would of course be observed.

What exactly happened afterwards at the party, only those involved know. Nevertheless, many compatriots showed little understanding for the hedonistic instinct of their kicking figurehead, especially since Brazil is one of the countries with the highest number of corona deaths.

The big brother for “golden boy” Mbappé

Neymar does not understand the controversy as he is about “Brand»Explains:« This is a very strange subject, because who doesn’t like to go out to party? »He asks rhetorically. “Everyone likes to have fun, to go out with friends, with family – I know when I can go, when I can and when not,” he says.

“People think that I’m immature, that I don’t know what I’m doing – it’s completely the opposite. If you only concentrate one hundred percent on playing football – according to my way of thinking and thinking – I would explode. ” That’s why he will never stop doing it, the 222-million-euro man – that is what his club transferred to Barça in 2017 – makes clear.

His close relationship with Kylian Mbappé is unproblematic. “We’re practically brothers – I’m the big brother and he’s the little brother,” jokes the spectacle player and praises his strike partner: “He’s a golden boy – that’s what I call him – he has a huge heart. And you don’t have to talk about your footballing talent. ”

The unexpected change of heart – is Messi coming?

The bon vivant did not always feel at home in the French capital and in the past often flirted with a return to Barcelona. But since last year’s foray into the Champions League final with his team (1-0 defeat by Bayern Munich), he has apparently rethought. No wonder, because the Parisian noble club seems to be more sporty than the Catalans, who are increasingly sinking into (financial) chaos.

“I am very happy,” said the 103-time international. “Something has changed a lot, I can’t say exactly what, but I know,” he concluded.

According to consistent media reports, Neymar is about to extend his contract by four years in the current third in the table. His previous contract ends in June 2022. There are only small details to clarify, according to sources. Maybe he and the new coach Mauricio Pochettino will soon be able to welcome a prominent teammate. PSG are said to be ahead in the race for Lionel Messi, who will be free to transfer in the summer. The two exceptional athletes could soon be reunited. This would at least be a reason to celebrate for all football fans.
