Apple on Friday announced a new measure for some Apple Watch Series 6 units affected by a “white screen issue”. Therefore, affected customers will be able to request a free repair through Apple or Authorized Service Providers (AASP).
If you have an Apple Watch with this problem, it will solve it for free!
According to the company, this issue only affects a small percentage of the Apple Watch Series 6 with 40 mm. In practice you can make the screen go blank permanently. However, Apple says the affected units were produced between April and September 2021.
Affected customers can verify that their Apple Watch Series 6 is eligible for repair by entering the serial number in the site from Apple. Please note that no other Apple Watch models except the 6 40mm are part of this service program.
But here’s what it says on Apple’s support page:
“Apple has determined that a very small percentage of Apple Watch Series 6 40mm devices may have a blank screen. Affected devices arrived between April 2021 and September 2021.”
“If your Apple Watch Series 6 is experiencing this issue, use the serial number checker below to see if your device is eligible for this program. If so, an Apple Authorized Service Provider will repair the device, free of charge.
That is, if the Apple website indicates that your Apple Watch Series 6 is eligible for repair, you should take it to an Apple Store immediately. Repair is free of charge to the customer, unless other Apple Watch components other than the display are damaged.
The program covers Series 6 Apple Watches for two years after purchase and is valid worldwide.
