If the general election is held today, who will win; Modi or Rahul to lead?- Mood of the Nation | Lok Sabha polls | Narendra Modi | Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi ∙ If general elections are held in the country now, who will win between the BJP-led NDA and the Congress-led UPA? With Lok Sabha elections due next year, the people’s answer to this question is in favor of the NDA. The India Today-CVoter Mood of the Nation survey says that the NDA led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi will win.

If the elections are held today, BJP will win 284 seats. Congress led by Rahul Gandhi will win 191 seats. Narendra Modi is ahead in popularity. 72 percent said they were satisfied with Modi’s performance and 67 percent said they were satisfied with NDA’s performance. The January survey concluded that the government will overcome anti-incumbency sentiment, inflation, the Covid pandemic and external challenges including China.

It is also noteworthy that the number of people who are satisfied with the Modi government, which has been in power at the center for 9 consecutive years, has also increased. In the August 2022 survey, 56 percent of people were satisfied. In January 2023, it rose to 67 percent. Dissatisfaction with the central government was 32 percent in August 2022. Now it has reduced to 18 percent.

Dealing with Covid (20%), abrogation of Article 370 (14%) and construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya (12%) are considered as major achievements of the government. According to the survey, inflation (25%), unemployment (17%) and the way the Covid-19 was handled (8%) are the major shortcomings of the government. A total of 1,40,917 people were part of the survey.
