Minister of Defense (Minister of Defense) Prabowo Subianto promised not to pass the person who mark-up the budget insanely. Prabowo said he did not want to be cursed by future generations.
“What’s important for me is when things go crazy, say X the price is then the mark-up is up to 600 percent, right? Sorry, maybe a lot of people don’t like me, I don’t want to sign, I won’t pass, I don’t want to. I reported it to the President, sir. I don’t want to, sir, that means it’s my responsibility to the president, the people, to history. right not? I’m afraid, I’m afraid of being cursed by the next generation… cave I don’t want it to be crazy,” Prabowo said in a statement podcast Deddy Corbuzier as seen, Sunday (13/6/2021).
Prabowo explained that he had developed a system that would prevent potential misuse of the budget. He will cooperate with the Prosecutor’s Office to the BPK to oversee the contract at the Ministry of Defense.
“To ensure that we will not be tempted to get involved in this, I plan and we are trying it now, I plan to invite the prosecutor, BPKP and BPK to examine all of our contracts before they become effective. So how many stages are there in the contract, so there are the initial contract, there are conditions that must be met, financial conditions, these conditions are these conditions, until the end if the contract … on this trip I will ask the prosecutor’s office, BPKP and BPK,” Prabowo said.
Other than that, Prabowo seeks to negotiate directly with defense equipment manufacturers. He wanted to know the details of the price of defense equipment that Indonesia would buy.
“Yes, there must be, that’s what I said, order it, we want to minimize the way, how do we compile a system, what kind of system. So now I do a lot of things, I negotiate directly with the producers so I want to know what the actual price is If we want to buy this tool, how much will it cost,” Prabowo said.
Prabowo Dismisses Elite Predictions
On that occasion, Prabowo also satirized the elite who predicted that Indonesia would not go to war in the next 40 years. The former Pangkostrad emphasized that no one can predict future conditions.
“Well, here are some elite people who, in my opinion, I don’t understand what they lack, lack of reading, lack of intelligence or what,” said Prabowo.
“I’m surprised that there are also those who say, there are those who say and convince the leadership that Indonesia in the next 40 years will not have war,” Prabowo continued.
Prabowo expressed a different opinion. He recounted his experience when he was about to be sworn in as a TNI officer.
“There was a general from Jakarta who came to Magelang, he gave a lecture to the officer candidates who were about to be sworn in tomorrow, he said, ‘All of the future officers in our analysis, Indonesia will not go to war in the next 25 years. That’s why the cadets are better off now. study, learn sospol, learn this and that’. Right not? we are dual function, there will be no war,” said Prabowo.
However, a year after the general’s statement was made, war broke out in East Timor. TNI troops from various cross-forces were deployed to East Timor. From that story, Prabowo said the Indonesian people must always be ready to face various threats.
“That’s what I remember in December 1974, it turned out that in December 1975 East Timor was divided and at that time, as soon as I graduated, I did the basic branch training for the commandos, finally in March 76 I arrived in East Timor and then joined us. Yes, everything is in East Timor, does that mean the war is really big or not? It’s not even a year since the general’s predictions are correct,” added the former Kostrad Commander
