The VSV goal will be guarded by Tyler Beskorowany, who was awarded Goalkeeper of the Year by the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) in 2015. The 30-year-old Canadian comes from HC Banska Bystrica in Slovakia, where he worked under the current VSV coach Dan Ceman. Beskorowany also had a three-year contract with Dallas Stars in the Nation Hockey League (NHL), but was not used in the league. The second VSV goalie will be 20-year-old Alexander Schmidt. Young national team defender Raphael Wolf also comes from Linz to the Drau.
It was only on Tuesday that the VSV brought back two players with an Austrian license, Sebastian Zauner (25 / defender) and Julian Kornelli (23 / striker), who had recently played in the second division of Germany. The 23-year-old moved from the Inn to the Red Bull Salzburg academy at the age of 14, and now the striker is coming from Vienna Capitals. Finally, the 23-year-old Christian Jennes was signed by VEU Feldkirch.
“Caps” extend back with Lakos, Nissner
Finally, Vienna Capitals have renewed their contract with veteran Philippe Lakos. The almost 40-year-old defender is entering his 18th season with the “Caps”. He has played 792 top division games with the current runner-up and says: “I’m in top shape and I’m excited for the new season.”
In addition, the Viennese announced the return of self-made player Benjamin Nissner, who was engaged in Sweden last season. “It feels very good. I am happy to be here again and ready for the season, ”said Nissner. After a year break, Vienna is now the center of life again for the 22-year-old. “My first goal now is to gain a foothold in the team. Then we’ll look further, ”said the nimble forward.
There is also a return at the KAC, Samuel Witting was already involved with the Carinthians from 2011 to 2015. Now the 22-year-old striker is moving from Salzburg, playing in a team with his older brother Marcel.
