Hitekno.com – Tim archaeologist international find human jawbone estimated from Time Essence or Pleistocene.

Jaw bone man This was found in a cave called Leang Bulu Bettue in Sulawesi southwest, Indonesia.

According to the international team of archaeologists who discovered the bones, this is the first indication of human presence on Sulawesi during the Ice Age or Pleistocene.

The jawbone, which is still complete with teeth, dates to between 25,000 and 16,000 years ago, although the team of scientists was unable to determine the sex or age of the individual owner of the bone.

This particular individual was most likely descended from the modern human population that arrived on Sulawesi by boat tens of thousands of years ago,” said Adam Brumm, archaeologist at the Australian Research Center for Human Evolution, as quoted by Gizmodo on Saturday (2/10/2021).

According to historical records, Southeast Asia has an extraordinary archive of hominin relics stored in limestone caves.

In recent years, the islands of the Philippines and Indonesia have hosted the discovery of Homo floresiensis and Homo luzonensis, extinct human relatives.

In the past, hominins are believed to have migrated through the islands, lived in caves, and painted on cave walls in what is now known as ancient cave art.

Last month, a different team also announced the discovery of genetic material from a 7,000-year-old skeleton in Sulawesi that it identified as belonging to an 18-year-old woman.

The jawbone was recently reported to precede the remains of the skeleton.

This finding pushes back the existence of Homo sapiens in Sulawesi for thousands of years. Even so, it was a pity that the bones found were incomplete so it could not tell about the individual it came from.

However, experts believe that the jawbone belongs to an adult due to an erupted third molar. The team of scientists hopes future excavations will reveal more about the species.

That’s the discovery of a human jawbone which, according to an international team of archaeologists, is believed to be from the Ice Age or the Pleistocene. (Suara.com/ Lintang Siltya Utami).
