Ibrahimovic screwed in 1-0 to Milan on a free kick

It has been difficult for Milan in the league game lately. The red and blacks had lost their last two matches by 3-4 against Fiorentina and then 1-3 against Sassuolo. Milan wanted to reverse that trend when the team visited Genoa at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris on Wednesday night.

Then Swedish Zlatan Ibrahimovic was from the start in Stefano Pioli’s starting eleven – and he would play a leading role immediately. In the 10th minute, Milan were awarded a free kick close to Genoa’s penalty area. Ibrahimovic stepped forward to beat it – who deliciously screwed in 1-0 to visiting Milan.

– That finish, that free kick, it is completely unreachable for Sirigu (Salvatore, goalkeeper Genoa), says C More’s commentator Christoffer Svanemar in the broadcast.

With 42 minutes played, Brahim Diaz nearly put the visitors another one up as he broke through in the middle and fired from just outside the box, but his shot passed just over the bar. The Spaniard dribbled his way through the Genoa defense with a delicious solo raid. The finish slipped just over the bar, however, and the score remained 1-0 to the guests.

But the 2-0 goal was to come. In extra time in the first half, Ibrahimovic fired a shot from close range, but the shot was blocked by a Genoa defender. The ball was controlled high in the air – and where it steamed down, Junior Messias waited who nodded in 2-0 with his first Serie A goal for Milan.

Startelvor:

Genoa: Sirigu – Vanheusden, Masiello, Vasquez – Ghiglione, Rovella, Badelj, Sturaro, Bambiaso – Ekuban, Bianchi.

Milan: Maignan – Kalulu, Kjaer, Tomori, Hernandez – Kessié, Tonali – Messias, Brahim, Krunic – Ibrahimovic.
