Milan –
Zlatan Ibrahimovic tested positive for the Corona virus. This was disclosed through the official website AC Milan.
Ibrahimovic tested positive for COVID-19 after undergoing a second test. This was done after another Milan player, Leo Duarte, first tested positive.
“Zlatan Ibrahimović tested positive for COVID-19 after undergoing a second swab test ahead of tonight’s match against Bodo / Glimt. The club has notified the relevant authorities and the player is immediately quarantined at home. All team members and other staff have tested negative,” said a Milan statement.
This means that Milan must appear without Ibrahimovic in the third qualifying round of the Europa League against FK Bodo / Glimt. This duel took place at the San Siro, Friday (25/9/2020) in the morning WIB. Rossoneri are clearly more favored to advance to the playoffs.
The home team has better player material than last season’s Norwegian League runners-up. Not to mention, Bodo / Glimt also lacks experience playing in European competitions.
They last performed in European competitions more than 15 years ago. At that time, Bodo / Glimt lost 1-2 on aggregate to Besiktas in the first round of the 2004/2005 UEFA Cup.
Seeing this, coach Stefano Pioli should not have to worry a lot about Ibrahimovic’s absence. Other players are likely to fill the void of Ibra’s role.
