Ibrahima Conté (Niort) sentenced to six months in prison for domestic violence

Niort defender (L2) Ibrahima Conté was sentenced Thursday to one year in prison, including six months suspended for domestic violence and theft by the Niort criminal court. The 24-year-old Guinean, who was not placed under a committal warrant at the end of the hearing, was also sentenced to an obligation of care, and banned from coming into contact with his companion. Ibrahima Conté, who was on trial for violence against his partner and the theft of his phone and papers, was arrested in July in full training with his club in Niort, after a complaint from his partner. He had been placed under judicial supervision pending trial.

Ibrahima Conté, who was injured this summer shortly after his arrest, has played two matches this season with the Chamois Niortais. He started in a victory at Sochaux on November 7 and replaced on Saturday in a home defeat against Dunkirk. At the hearing, where Conté, with a clean criminal record, was present as well as his companion, who did not file a civil action, the public prosecutor spoke of violence “usual“dating back to early 2018, when the player was still playing in Lorient.
