Iberia’s flight offer to the US is already 4% higher than in 2019

Javier Sánchez-Prieto, president of Iberia, recently assured that the airline will fly this summer to all its destinations, except Tokiobecause Japan remains closed to international tourism. And its programming for the summer season includes a strong commitment to the United Stateswhich even increased by 4% compared to 2019, before the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, as indicated by the company. In addition to reopening routes such as San Franciscothis year two new direct routes are inaugurated, Washington y Dallaswhich will be operational from next June 1, bringing a total of eight destinations in that country.

The United States “is the intercontinental destination in which the airline offers the greater number of destinations and frequencies”, they indicate from the company.

Specifically, this summer Iberia will operate up to 120 weekly flights between Madrid and the North American country. In addition to the new destinations, it has increased its frequencies to Boston, Los Angeles, Miami and New York:

  • Washington: four direct flights a week
  • Dallas: four weekly flights
  • San Francisco: three weekly frequencies
  • Boston: daily flight during July and August

A large part of these flights will be carried out with the new Airbus A350 aircraftwhich the company has just added to its fleet, and which it has baptized with the name “Hello, Madrid”, within the collaboration and promotion alliance that it maintains with the Madrid City Council (more information on Iberia and Madrid reinforces its alliance to promote the city).

“Madrid is our home and we should have a plane named after it. From the fuselage of this A350 ‘Hello, Madrid’ we will continue to invite customers from around 50 countries we fly to to continue visiting us”, the director said yesterday at the presentation of the new aircraft.

This aircraft has the capacity to 349 passengers and it comes equipped with the three cabins -Business, Premium Tourist and Tourist-. Furthermore, it is between 30 and 35% more efficient thanks to the latest generation materials with which it is built, and the advanced design of its Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engines.

On the other hand, María Jesús López Solás affirmed that, for the time being, and despite the conflict in Ukraine and the increase in prices, the demand is not suffering. “The long radius is strong”, he asserted.
