The increase in confirmed cases of coronavirus in the Czech Republic slowed slightly on Saturday. Laboratories confirmed 2,046 new cases of the infection, 65 less than on Friday. However, on a non-testing day off, this is the highest daily increase since the beginning of the epidemic in the country. This follows from data on the website of the Ministry of Health. The number of infected and hospitalized in the country has been increasing significantly since the beginning of last week. On Tuesday, September 8, daily increases in confirmed cases of coronavirus exceeded one thousand for the first time and remained at this level daily for the week, with the exception of last Sunday. The Czech Republic set a new record in the number of daily gains this week on Wednesday, when 2135 more infected people were added. On Thursday, this number was surpassed when laboratories confirmed 3128 cases of covid-19.
System readiness
According to Černý, with a daily increase of more than four thousand cases, the health system will approach the moment when it will be necessary to reduce non-civic health care. “We will have to fundamentally enter the scope of providing essential non-peptide care,” he forwards. He admits that such an increase may come as early as next week.
He also adds that Prague and the South Moravian Region stand out in the number of cases. According to him, the capital is approaching the moment when it will have to activate backup capacities. “If the current rate of patient growth remains, the system always has about three weeks to prepare for what’s to come,” he adds.
