Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK)NCP) Firli Bahuri assessing the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) can be a pioneer of anti-corruption culture. Firli encourages all political parties to participate in building anti-corruption character and culture.

“I think PDIP can become a pioneer in anti-corruption culture,” said Firli when speaking at the PDIP National Cadre Education (PKB) activity, as quoted from an official statement, Tuesday (22/3).

Firli said political parties have a central role and strategic position in realizing a corruption-free country because they place their cadres in the government. According to him, what the state needs today is an anti-corruption culture.

The retired three-star general of the National Police assessed that the current anti-corruption culture is not yet ideal in state administration. Firli said that an anti-corruption culture must be built with an integrated system and orchestration.

“Eradication of corruption requires an orchestration by creating a system of national integrity,” said the retired two-star police general.

Meanwhile, PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto said he supports the anti-corruption commitment. His party admitted that they had opened space through the merit system and fixed the party’s internal rules.

“Pak Firli’s direct presence will not be in vain, and therefore all party cadres must be involved in building an anti-corruption culture that starts from a way of thinking that is free from abuse of power,” he said.

For information, a number of PDIP cadres are still entangled in corruption in the last two years. For example, former Minister of Social Affairs Juliari P. Batubara, former Governor of South Sulawesi Nurdin Abdullah, to Harun Masiku, who is still at large.
