“I have Covid, the dreaded double red line has arrived. Get vaccinated, this thing is incredibly contagious »- Corriere.it

from Simona Marchetti

The Queen guitarist told on Instagram that he and his wife Anita Dobson fell ill after going to a friend’s birthday party, where everyone present had swabs and tested negative.

They believed that they had been careful and that they were in a safe bubble, as the friends present at that birthday lunch earlier this month had all taken the test and tested negative. But something went wrong and Brian May and wife Anita Dobson took Covid. This was revealed by the guitarist of Queen himself in an Instagram post, where he showed followers the device with “the dreaded double red line” indicating a positive test.

“The shocking day finally arrived for me too – wrote May on the social network -. The dreaded double red line. And yes, leave the compassion aside please, it’s been really bad days, but I’m fine. I will continue to tell you how I am. But please be very careful out there, good people. This thing is incredibly transmissible. I don’t think you want to ruin your Christmas. With love – Bri ». As promised, in the days following the announcement, the musician kept fans updated on the evolution of the disease and after an optimistic first video, in which he improvised a guitar solo, he published a second, where he instead explained how he and his wife Anita – defined by May himself as “a warrior” – had contracted the virus.

“Last Saturday we decided to go to a birthday lunch. It seemed a safe situation, everyone present had negative tests … – said the legend of Queen in the clip – What could have gone wrong? We thought we were in a safe bubble, so we didn’t use masks ». A couple of days later, however, he and his wife began to show symptoms of Covid. “We did the tests and they were negative, then I heard that eight people present at that party tested positive, so we did a test and it turned out that we had contracted the virus. I had two terrible days, with the worst flu you could imagine, but I think it would have been worse if I didn’t get the vaccine and the booster. For this I beg you to go and get vaccinated, if you have not already done so, because you need help ».

The latest update on his condition came on the night of Sunday to Monday, when May posted a short video showing yet another positive test, while in the long accompanying post he said that his battle against the virus “is still ongoing” and that his cough has returned, before recommending everyone to be cautious again. “Use a mask, keep social distancing, have common sense and only go into an enclosed space with other people if you are sure it is worth it.”
