Hyundai and Kia will recall half a million cars due to the threat of fire :: Autonews

In total, 440 thousand Kia Optima sedans, which were produced in 2013-2015, will go to the service. The review will also affect 151 thousand Hyundai Santa Fe crossovers of 2013-2015. As reported The Washington Post, Hyundai has already asked car owners to temporarily refuse to park their cars in the garage.

At the moment, it is known about 15 cases of engine fires on Hyundai cars and eight on Kia. Whether there are victims is still unknown. Kia will launch a recall campaign on October 15. The Hyundai service campaign starts a little later, on October 23rd. All work will be free for car owners.

In the US this year, Hyundai already announced about a large-scale recall of cars. In February, the concern decided to return 430,000 Elantra sedans and station wagons. Then the risk of engine fire was also the cause. Prior to this, there were reports of several incidents of fire in Elantra vehicles. There were no casualties as a result of the incidents.
