According to Automotive News, Donkervolke decided to leave the company for personal reasons. The former chief designer added that it was “a great honor” for him to be responsible for the future of Korean-made cars, which allowed him to “go beyond the usual with his progressive views.”
Before moving to the South Korean concern, five years ago Donkervolke worked at Volkswagen. Under his leadership, the Kona and Palisade models were created. Also, the chief designer created the corporate identity of the Genesis brand and developed the appearance of the first crossover brand GV80.
