HyperX Cloud II Wireless Review: Simple and Orthodox Gaming Headset | Gizmodo Japan

No change ball, straight. But it is good.

Depending on the earphones, headphones, usage, usage environment, and budget, there are many options these days, but this time Gizmodo reviewed HyperX gaming headsets.HyperX Cloud II Wireless.. Are you looking for a gaming headset, the lucky one to get a new console last year? Here’s a simple headset with all the features you need.

Sometimes I think I’m overdoing a gaming headset. RGB lights, built-in motors, etc. I didn’t ask for a gaming headset that much,Ordinarily good guyI want a “normally good guy”. It’s comfortable to wear, the sound is stable, it has a good battery life and connection, and it has a classic design. Such a “normally good guy”. HyperX The wireless version of Cloud II Wireless, which has been upgraded from the regular version, is just that “normally good guy”. I think it’s an item like the answer that a gaming headset should be like this.

What is this? :HyperX gaming headset.

price:$ 150 (about 15,400 yen).

Good point:Undoubted design, simple operability, battery life, stable audio quality in any range, removable microphone.

Unfortunately:The included USB-C is short, slightly higher than rival models, and does not support Bluetooth.

The design is the same as the regular version, but that’s fine

First of all, design. It’s the regular version of Cloud headset and two, but that’s fine.I did it a few years agoBest gaming headset for under $ 100In the article, the first HyperX Cloud ranked second. The SteelSeries Arctis 5 came in first, because it had three hours of game time and was a bit more breathable and comfortable to wear. The difference between Cloud and Arctis 5 was really small and close.

By the wayThere is no problem with the design of Cloud, so it’s almost the same... A stable aluminum band, a large pad, and a soft memory foam ear cup. On the right side, there is an ON / OFF button, a mute button, and a volume wheel. that’s all? While thinking, the minimum required functions are covered. However, I wonder if it would have been nice to have a dial for games and chat, which is common in wireless headphones from other companies.

Be careful of calls while wearing

Like its predecessor, Cloud II WirelessClosed passive noise canceling.. The sound insulation is quite high, soBe careful when talking while wearing.. It’s hard to hear your own voice. I usually use open headphones, so when I turned on the Cloud II Wireless, I talked in a loud voice.

The default sound quality is good enough!

The sound quality was good, and there was a tight sound in every range. The bass is not muffled. You can tweak the audio settings from the HyperX app (you can also switch to virtual 7.1 surround sound), but the default settings were so good that it’s fine. Take it out of the box, connect it to your computer, connect the dongle, turn on the headset, and start the game. Simple, that’s good!

The sound quality of the microphone is at a satisfactory level for game use

The microphone can be removed. A boom microphone is attached to the tip, and the cord can be bent, so you can pick up the sound clearly. The microphone itself is also equipped with a noise can function that cuts ambient sounds, which is quite effective, but it is not particularly amazing. Well, it feels like it works normally.

Compared to the Blue Yeti stand mic, the Blue Yeti picks up my voice in more detail, and when I talk to my friends via Discord, the Cloud II Wireless sounds flat. There was also an opinion that it was. But,So what.. In the first place, it was nonsense to compare because the uses are different. The story of games, now headsets for games. The most important thing when playing a game isIs your voice a little flat because it conveys what you are saying clearly and clearly? It doesn’t matter

I think the appeal and strength of Cloud II Wireless lies in its battery life and good connection. According to HyperX official, battery life is 30 hours. As a result of reviewing, it was certainly close to the official announcement. It depends on how you use it (how many hours a day you play), but during the review it was okay to charge it once every two weeks.

The wireless connection distance is also officially up to 20m. During the review, the connection is good wherever you are in the 1,000 sq ft (about 93 sq m) apartment room. It’s more than enough because the connection was cut only after I got out of the door and went to the elevator hall.

I have a little dissatisfaction

I’m not very dissatisfied with Cloud II Wireless, but there are a few to say the least. First,The included USB-A / USB-C charging cable is short.. It’s only about 2 feet (about 60 cm), so it’s very difficult to use while charging. Next,The included USB-A dongle is not easy to use.. I can’t use it if I remove the Nintendo Switch from the dock and hold it in my hand. SteelSeries Arctis 1 Wireless is a USB-C dongle. In that case, the main target of Cloud II Wireless will be PC or PS4 game users. Although not specified in the specifications, it could be used on PS5 (Microsoft uses its own signal, so it can not be used on Xbox).

Another thing to worry about is the price. It’s $ 150 (about 15,400 yen).. This is a little expensive compared to other companies’ budget wireless headphones. However, personally, considering the ease of use and performance of Cloud II Wireless, I can forgive it for being a little expensive. Classic and stable design, good audio, removable and clear microphone, good battery life, very good connection. I think that everything you want from a “normally good guy”, no more, is packed. A simple one for games,I like the simple oneIt is recommended for those who say!

Summary

・ Battery life 30 hours! Wireless connection distance 20m!

-Since it uses a USB-A dongle, it is not compatible with smartphones.

-Can be used on PCs, Nintendo Switch (dock mode), and PS4. Although there is no description, PS5 can also be used. Xbox is not supported.

-The included USB-A / USB-C charging cable is as short as 60 cm, so you can’t use it while charging.
