Hyères. The City demands the removal of signs illegally installed by an association

“1 butt on land = 1 butt at sea”, “The sea begins here, do not throw anything” … Here are the kind of messages that the Explore & Preserve association had posted in Hyères (Where). But as reported France 3 Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, Wednesday April 14, the town hall asked him to remove them at the risk of being fined.

Indeed, more than a dozen regulatory signs would have been repainted to carry out these messages. Gold, “Posting is strictly regulated in a protected natural area”, explained the mayor of the town.

A meeting between the two parties

In its defense, the association refuted any activism and specified that it just wanted to compensate for the absence of an awareness panel on marine pollution.

Understanding and supporting the process, the town hall proposed a meeting. On its Facebook page, Tuesday, April 13, the City of Hyères indicated that this meeting had been productive. Together they will imagine a strategy in favor of “Protection of the coastal environment” which should see the light of day in 2022. In addition, they will visit as soon as possible “Various sites eligible for the installation of Explore & Preserve information panels”.
