1. Shopee Indonesia

Shopee Indonesia is the first company to lay off its employees. Many employees are reportedly affected by this layoff. The news of Shopee’s layoffs was quite shocking in Indonesia.

Shopee took an efficiency measure in the form of releasing a number of employees on Monday, September 19. Shopee Indonesia’s chief of public affairs, Radynal Nataprawira, explained that with a heavy heart, Shopee Indonesia had to lay off some of its employees.

This decision is the last step to take, after making changes through several changes to company policies.

“Global economic conditions require us to adapt faster and evaluate business priorities to be more efficient. This is a very difficult decision,” said Radynal.

Shopee is committed to providing support to employees affected by this policy. Severance indemnity will be paid according to laws and regulations plus 1 month’s salary.

“This process will be carried out on the basis of government regulations. Affected employees will receive a statutory severance allowance with an additional month’s salary,” said Radynal.

Affected Shopee employees can still use the company’s health insurance facilities until the end of the year with all the benefits.
