Hurricane in Florida: weather service warns east coast of “Isaias”

The U.S. Weather Service has issued a hurricane warning because of an onset of a hurricane for Florida’s east coast. The lowest strength hurricane “Isaias”, which is coming from the Bahamas, should pass near the east coast of the US state from Saturday evening (local time). This was announced by the National Hurricane Center.

The storm is not expected to hit the US mainland directly. However, tidal waves, floods and high wind speeds can occur on the coast.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis urged citizens in the affected areas to stock up on water, food, and necessary medication for at least seven days. There could also be power cuts, he warned.

DeSantis imposed a state of emergency on the east coast districts likely to be affected on Friday evening – among other things, to give the authorities greater powers to prepare for the storm.

According to the forecast, the hurricane is expected to continue over parts of the Bahamas island chain until Saturday and bring gusts of wind of up to 120 kilometers per hour. Off the coast of Florida, the storm should then turn to the northeast and weaken. On Thursday, “Isaias”, a weaker tropical storm in the Caribbean US suburb of Puerto Rico, caused property damage and power outages.
