GMC Hummer EV is finally here. It has a finer style than its former predecessors, and the thirsty eight-cylinder petrol was then replaced by three electric motors.

The expected becomes a reality. General Motors returns the famous Hummer label to production. The novelty becomes part of the GMC brand offer specialized in pick-ups or SUVs, hence the name GMC Hummer EV, and as the manufacturer announced in advance, it is an electric car. He was to introduce himself in the spring, however, the coronavirus pandemic postponed the premiere until October. Sales will then begin in the fall of 2021.
A new competitor for the upcoming Tesla Cybertruck bet on the recognizable image of the former Hummers, whose design, however, shifts to modern times. The characteristic mask has remained so, but it is lower, as well as the headlights, in addition, it is illuminated by diodes. The edges have also been reduced to replace rounder shapes for better aerodynamics.

However, the shape of the bumpers helps the approach angles to ensure maximum capability in the field. The creators claim that it should be the most capable production truck in the world. For this reason, standard Goodyear Wrangler Territory tires and special steel plates protecting the batteries are also available.
The specialty is the roof. The manufacturer claims that the Ultium battery set ensures sufficient rigidity of the body, so there may be a so-called Infinity roof with three removable roof panelswhich can be stored in the front luggage compartment, under the hood. In addition, a power-operated rear window can also help with air vents.
The interior is pure modern. The shapes of the dashboard are practical and simple, but there are also great materials emphasizing the premium character of the car. In front of the driver is a digital instrument panel with the now common 12.3 “diagonal, complemented by a free-standing multimedia system display at the top of the center panel with a giant 13.4” diagonal. It also displays the necessary information for off-road driving, such as the torque currently in use. The drift angle indicator will also be a special feature.
UltraVision makes driving off-road. There are cameras at the front and rear that allow you to monitor the surroundings of the vehicle in 18 views, which should be useful not only when driving off-road, but also when maneuvering in confined spaces. That’s why there’s all-wheel steering or an air suspension capable of increasing the vehicle’s ground clearance.

But it’s not just about off-road driving, but the new Hummer shouldn’t be. It also provides a high level of comfort during normal driving. For example, a Smart Cruise Motorway Assistant should be available to allow you to drive on the motorway without holding your hands on the steering wheel. The manufacturer claims that such roads, where the car can handle them, are in the USA and Canada at 200,000 miles (almost 322,000 km).
And that’s getting to the powertrain. The former Hummers became famous for their thirsty eight-cylinder engines, which eventually broke their neck in a time of ecological madness, perhaps that is why the new era of the brand is electric.
At the time of launch, a single version will be available, relying on three electric motors to supply the car with an estimated 1,000 horsepower (746 kW). The torque is then supposed to be a staggering 15,592 Nm, but the GMC only gives the torque directly on the wheels. If we talk about the torque of the engines themselves, the value is expected to be around 1,085 Nm. In any case, the dizzying force will allow this pick-up to accelerate from 0-100 km / h in some three seconds.

The manufacturer has not yet released details about the batteries, so we still have to wait for data on capacity or range. In any case, the car will use a modern 800V electrical system, enabling super-fast charging with an output of 350 kW.
The GMC Hummer EV will go on sale in the US domestic market in the fall of 2021. The first to enter the market will be the introductory Edition 1, loaded with equipment, which is supposed to mean a price tag of $ 112,595, which is about 2.6 million crowns. Later, however, less well-equipped variants will arrive, as well as the basic design with a pair of electric motors. The production will be taken care of by the modernized ZERO Detroit-Hamtramck factory, which has been converted into the production of electrically powered vehicles.
