Hugo Lloris retires from the French national team

Paris

Hugo Loris announced withdrawal from French National. He still wants to leave at the top and believes that France already has a ready successor.

Lloris is still a pillar of France at the 2022 World Cup. Blues advance to the final, but ultimately lost on penalties to Argentina.

Making his debut for the French national team in November 2008 in a test match against Uruguay, Lloris then went on to become first choice and became their most capped player. The 36-year-old goalkeeper has represented his country 145 times, surpassing Lilian Thuram (142) and Thierry Henry (123).

Captain of France since 2010, Lloris has led his teammates to great heights. After only being a quarter-finalist at Euro 2012 and the 2014 World Cup, France finished as runners-up at Euro 2016 and won the 2018 World Cup.

“There comes a time when you have to know how to let go of the reins. I’ve said it several times, that the French national team belongs to nobody and we have to make it happen for everyone, starting with me,” said Lloris The group and quoted Evening standard.

“I also think the team is ready to move forward. There is also a goalkeeper ready (Mike Maignan).”

“I’d rather go full out than wait for a drop. There are also family considerations, I feel the need to spend more time with my wife and children,” added the Totteham Hotspur goalkeeper.
