It happened at the shop Kaufland from Basarabia Boulevard, where a liter of oil cost 6.99 lei/litre and a kilogram of sugar 3.99 lei/kg.
In the Kaufland shop in Bucharest, the liter of oil was thus sold at last year’s price.
Currently a liter of oil costs, depending on where you buy it, between 12 and 15 lei.
People took the carts and formed a hellish queue, waiting for the gates to open.
Most of them retired, people flocking to seize the offers on bananas, oil and sugar.
The queue stretched for several tens of meters, up to the parking lot, and the employees erected fences to facilitate access to the supermarket.
