Huge delivery of AMD Ryzen 5 5600X CPUs puts an end to shortages for now – Computer – News

A large delivery of AMD Ryzen 5 5600X processors has put an end to shortages in the Benelux for the time being. At the time of writing, Azerty and Megekko alone have a stock of almost fifteen hundred processors.

The renewed stock at those two major web shops alone is half more than the complete stock of all Ryzen 5000 processors at release. With that introduction in early November, the AMD Ryzen 5000 processors sold out within minutes. Tweakers estimated at the time that there was a release stock of a thousand pieces. Afterwards, however, deliveries were slow, as various web shops confirm. As a result, the Pricewatch was almost empty, or at most filled by unofficial sales outlets that charged sky-high prices.

This week, almost all web shops that are official AMD partner received large deliveries from the Ryzen 5 5600X, the cheapest processor in the current line-up. After fulfilling all back orders, both Azerty and Megekko each had about 750 processors of this type left for free sale. The large deliveries also depressed the average price, which has fallen from around EUR 430 in December to EUR 370 now. That is still more than the suggested retail price of 309 euros, but the various shops may be holding back, given that further deliveries are still uncertain.

Also the Ryzen 7 5800X and to a lesser extent the Ryzen 9 5950X are now available from stock. The wait is still on Ryzen 9 5900X with twelve cores, already report several tweakers in it delivery time topic on GoT that there seems to be movement in the pre-orders there too. AMD seems to have been overcome by the high demand for this particular model, for which by far the most orders at release entered, while the amount of stock was on par with the much less sought after Ryzen 7.

In the meantime, there seems to be much less progress in the field of the new video cards. Both the new generations of AMD and Nvidia and the previous generations that have now been discontinued are barely or not available in according to Nvidia stocks will certainly remain limited until the end of April. The temporary shortage of processors of the previous generation, for which the huge price increase of the Ryzen 5 3600 was drawing, it now seems under control.

Tweakers concluded in the review of the AMD Ryzen 5000 CPUs that the processors were the best choice for virtually any PC user, despite the higher suggested retail prices compared to the previous generation.
