Huge asteroids are approaching the earth. One is larger than the Egyptian pyramids

In the coming hours and days, the four large asteroids will approach Earth and fly around our planet at breakneck speed. The largest is taller than the Washington Monument. At the same time, it will be so close that astronomers will be able to observe it.

Huge asteroids will fly around the earth from Friday to Saturday night. It is an asteroid 2016 JG12, which measures an average of about 190 meters and flies around the Earth at a distance of five million kilometers at a speed of seven kilometers per second. So it’s taller than the Washington Monument in the US capital, the portal writes Newsweek.

In addition, according to experts, it should be close enough for astronomers to be able to observe it with a telescope from Earth. It will be closest to our planet 23 minutes after midnight.

“But people will certainly not see it with their eyes. It will require very good equipment and binoculars,” said Petr Šajrich of the Astronomical Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic. He also added that people could see the asteroid with their eyes during a flight in 2029.

Around dawn on Saturday, two more asteroids will approach our planet. The first experts refer to the year as 2021 VR and reaches an average of 120 meters, so it is approximately the size of the Pyramid of Cheops in Giza. It will fly around the Earth at a safe distance of more than five million kilometers.

It will be accompanied by a significantly smaller asteroid called 2021 VJ11, which has a diameter of just over 20 meters. Over the weekend, we will also see the fourth and largest asteroid, known as 1982 HR, which measures about 300 meters on average. It will fly 5.7 million kilometers from our planet.

According to the Center for the Study of Near-Earth Objects (CNEOS), none of the asteroids should be a threat to Earth.
