Huawei is phasing out support for “success phones”

Huawei starts the red pencil: The Mate 10 Pro has reached the end of life. Strange thing: ONLY the pro.

End of lifetime. So the moment when a cell phone (or other technical device) has reached its zenith from the manufacturer’s point of view comes faster and faster with smartphones. Now the popular Mate 10 Pro from Huawei has also met this fate – it was presented in late summer / autumn 2017. The blog reports RPRNA.

This means that the Mate 10 Pro – apart from new Android versions, which are anyway rare after 3 years of life, also from other manufacturers – no longer receives any security updates, which Huawei distributes to its devices either monthly or quarterly.

Two things are interesting in this context. First: The Mate 10 Pro is no longer on the list of phones that are supplied with security patches, but it is on the list of those days should receive the EMUI-10 updateat least in China.

Second: The Mate 10 Lite, the slimmed-down, cheaper version of the Mate 10 Pro, is still on the support list for patches (quarterly). Why the more expensive noble phone is excluded from the support, but the Lite is not, is currently not known – and, honestly, not really understandable.
