Charles Yang, Senior Vice President of Huawei and CEO of Huawei Data Center Facility Team, showcased the groundbreaking innovations of the next generation of data center facilities at the launch. On this occasion, he said that technical experts and industry authorities have reached consensus on the four characteristics of next-generation data center facilities after extensive and extensive discussions, namely: sustainable, simplified , autonomous driving and reliability.

Durable : Next generation data centers will be completely green and energy efficient, while maximizing the recycling of all data center materials. This way, the overall data center ecosystem will be green and sustainable. These can be achieved by using green resources – electricity, land and water – and by maximizing the recycling of materials used throughout the life cycle. Besides the widely used PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness) indicator, other indicators including CUE (Carbon Usage Effectiveness), WUE (Water Usage Effectiveness) and GUE (Grid Usage Effectiveness) will also be used to measure the data center sustainability.

Simplified: Simplified architecture, power and cooling embody the evolution of data center installation. Simplified architecture brings innovative forms for buildings and equipment rooms. If the prefabricated modular construction mode is used to build a 1000-bay data center, the construction period can be reduced from more than 18 months to 6-9 months. Simplified power redesigns components and links. It shortens the delivery time from 2 months to 2 weeks. Simplified cooling also maximizes heat exchange efficiency by replacing multiple heat exchanges with one, and shortening the cooling link.

Autonomous driving : Automation of O&M, optimization of energy efficiency and operational autonomy are reshaping the management of data center operations and maintenance. Automated O&M allows engineers to inspect 2,000 racks in 5 minutes remotely. Optimizing energy efficiency can provide optimal cooling strategy through 1.4 million original combinations in 1 minute, realizing intelligent cooling. Autonomy of operation maximizes resource value.

Reliability: Proactive security and secure architecture ensure high quality and sustainable data center development. Proactive security means using big data and AI technologies to implement predictive maintenance, from components to data centers, based on visibility and perception of all areas in data centers. Automatic fault response means it only takes 1 minute to spot a fault, 3 minutes to analyze it and 5 minutes to fix it. A secure architecture means that security will be provided at different levels, such as components, devices, and systems. At the system level, the viewable, manageable and controllable E2E platform achieves 99.999% system availability.

PowerPOD 3.0: A power supply system that saves time, space and energy

At the event, Fei Zhenfu, technical director of Huawei Data Center Facility Team, introduced a new generation of power supply system, called PowerPOD 3.0. This system reduces footprint by 40%, energy consumption by 70%, delivery time from 2 months to 2 weeks, and SLA failure rate by 38. %.
