How UAZ could release a real “Russian Prado” in 2006

At the start of sales, UAZ Patriot almost experienced restyling, which could change a lot.

The 2006 Moscow International Auto Show became the place where the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant demonstrated to the public its vision of how the UAZ Patriot should change in the near future. Only now there was one problem – the SUV itself at that time was only gaining popularity, because the presentation did not cause much excitement. But in vain – restyling promised to be at least interesting.

However, he still managed to gather his UAZ audience at that exhibition – dozens of people became interested in the updated Patriot UAZ, asking the company representatives for more details. If you look at the Russian frame from the front, it may seem as if no changes have occurred at all, although in fact there are more than enough innovations there.

The rear of the UAZ “Patriot” received huge lights that changed the perception of the current Russian flagship, and the fifth door opened in the opposite direction to the usual one. Even then, “Patrick” began to resemble a real “Russian Prado”, but only by 2020 the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant decided to return to that forgotten idea.

However, in addition to the new stern, the UAZ “Patriot” was distinguished by an impressive list of interior modifications. We completely changed the front panel and door trim, improved ergonomics so as to increase the volume of the luggage compartment, instead of the radio, we found a place for a touch multimedia screen, and planned to offer turning lights in the rear-view mirrors and two-color as “special stages” for customers of the updated UAZ Patriot interior decoration.

Eyewitnesses who managed to visit MIAS-2006, even in 2020, unanimously say that the concept of UAZ “Patriot” 14 years ago looks more successful than what they are selling now. Some of the motorists admit that they sometimes even dream of a “Patrick,” who is gone and never will be.
