How to ‘Turn on’ Motorcycle Spark Plugs in Urgent Situations

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Problems that are not uncommon for motorists are components spark plug suddenly died. This condition makes the ignition of motor nil, causing the engine to not start.

This matter is not difficult to overcome. We just need to replace the spark plugs with new ones. However, if the situation is urgent, in this case forgetting to bring a spare spark plug, or there is no repair shop around, we even know how to outsmart it. Here’s a trick to ‘revive’ a dead spark plug:

Fix Spark Plug Position

The first way to fix a dead motor spark plug is to fix the position of the component. Even though the position of the spark plug only shifted slightly, that was the reason why this component suddenly died.

After you make sure the position of the spark plug is in place, then try restarting the motor. This method is fairly easy.

Burn On The Electrode

If the first method doesn’t work, try a trick by burning the electrodes. The first step you have to do is to clean the spark plug first, then the electrode is burned using a small fire.

You can burn the electrodes using a welder or gas stove. After that, you can wait a few minutes for the spark plug to cool. Remember, do not insert the spark plug immediately if it is still too hot because it will harm the motor.

Breaking the Lighter Glass

Another reason why the spark plugs die could be because the engine compartment is too wet with oil. This causes the piston ring components to wear out and the spark plug to suddenly die. In addition to sparks that quickly die, this can also cause a lot of smoke coming out of the motor.

How to fix the spark plug in this condition by breaking the glass of the lighter. The first step is enough to first break the ceramic glass part using a screwdriver, pliers or stone.

This broken ceramic is inside the spark plug itself and it is used to wrap around the core electrode. You are advised to use this method because usually spark plugs are caused by the electrodes being filled with a lot of carbon.

This is also caused by the use of spark plugs that have been used for too long so that they do not succeed in carrying out a complete combustion process. Once solved, an electric current will appear and enter the spark plug without being hindered by the ceramic insulator and carbon crust.

It should be noted that there are no glass shards that enter the machine because it has the potential to cause new problems. In addition, it is not recommended that you hit the ceramic too hard because this can bend the electrodes.
