How to travel for free by bus thanks to transport aid: routes and requirements

Thus, for example, recurring users of lines such as those linking Madrid and Segovia, Guadalajara and Madrid, Teruel and Barcelona, ​​Zaragoza and Castellón de la Plana, Jaén and Madrid, Gijón and León, Irún and Tui or Logroño and Soria, in 2023 can purchase season tickets or tickets for 10, 20 or 30 trips to travel with a 100% discount.

According to data from Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, the network of this transport service has a total of 4,088 stops that are distributed among 2,399 populations belonging to 1,837 municipalities of the national geography. The total length of lines is 68,861 kilometers, with an average of 894.3 kilometers per concession.

These free tickets for regular travelers will have validity during the current year divided into three periods:

  • Between February 1, 2023 and April 30, 2023.
  • Between May 1, 2023 and August 31, 2023.
  • Between September 1, 2023 and December 31, 2023.

The Ministry also estimated that a family of four members will save on average between 1,800 and 3,000 euros this year.

Requirements and conditions to obtain free travel

Below we highlight the requirements to obtain free intercity transport vouchers:

  • The title will be personal and non-transferable and for each period of validity, the acquisition of a single multi-trip ticket per person and origin and destination will only be allowed.
  • No more than one round trip per day may be made. unless previously cancelled.
  • The user will not be able to buy tickets for consecutive trips if, between one trip and another, at least three times the duration of the outbound trip.
  • If the user does not cancel a formalized trip that has not been made at least 24 hours in advance or is used by a person other than the holder, the bond will be withdrawn.
  • The deposit will be refunded by the user provided that 12 or more trips are effectively made in the first quarter of application and 16 or more trips per quarter between May 1 and December 31.
