Earlier, WhatsApp announced that it had appointed Calvin Kizana as the first head of WhatsApp in Indonesia and would have an office in Jakarta.
In its press release on Monday (11/28/2022), the company said that this appointment has strengthened Indonesia’s prominence for WhatsApp.
Calvin has over 20 years of experience as an entrepreneur, leader, founder and consultant in the technology field.
Previously, he worked as the COO of GoPlay, a platform company stream by GoJek. He also founded two to boot namely Playday which is a platform live streamas well as PicMixa social media platform.
Calvin is also active in the startup scene in Southeast Asia and has been a mentor and advisor to many of them. In 2014, Ernst and Young awarded him Digital Entrepreneur of the Year.
Calvin Kizana, in a press release, said that WhatsApp connects many people in Indonesia, both friends, family and communities, where they want to connect businesses more easily.
“This is an incredible opportunity for me to work on a product that touches the lives of many people across Indonesia, and I can’t wait to get started,” Calvin said.
