**Ingredients and amounts:**
– 5 cups of flour.
– Half a cup of ground sesame.
– A spoonful of fine sugar.
– A spoon of yeast.
– A cup of warm water.
– One egg.
– A small cup of butter.
– Small spoon of salt.
– A spoonful of ground saffron.
– Honey or syrup (sheera).
– Roasted sesame.
**How to prepare:**
1. Dissolve the yeast well in warm water and leave it aside for a few minutes until it begins to react.
2. In a large bowl, mix flour with salt, ground sesame and sugar.
3. Add the melted butter, egg, yeast mixture, and warm water to the dough and gradually knead.
4. Knead the dough well until it becomes smooth and pliable. If the dough is too dry, you can add more water slowly.
5. Cover the dough and let it rest for about an hour or until it doubles in size.
6. Divide the dough into small balls and roll them out with a rolling pin or your hands into thin rectangles.
7. Fry the dough pieces in hot oil until they become golden. Then we filter it by placing it on tissue paper to absorb excess oil.
8. Heat honey or syrup (shirah) in a pot over low heat until it becomes hot.
9. Place the fried Qaryoush in the honey or syrup for a minute or until it is well absorbed.
10. Garnish the Qaryoush with toasted sesame and let it cool completely before serving.
11. Algerian Qaryoush can be served with tea or coffee and is ready to eat.
