Bonus tv, incentives arrive for the purchase of new generation appliances. The bonus, worth up to 50 euros, is a subsidy for the purchase of TVs and decoders suitable for the reception of television programs with the new broadcasting standards, in practice second-generation digital terrestrial, which will become operational starting from this year, as well as for the purchase of decoders for satellite reception. The incentive is available until 31 December 2022 or when the allocated resources have been used up.
What is the new Dvb-T2 standard. The new platform of the latest generation digital terrestrial: better signal quality and high definition programs. Dvb-T2 (Digital Video Broadcasting – Second Generation Terrestrial) is the latest generation standard for broadcasting on the digital terrestrial platform of the European DVB consortium. The transition to the new standard will allow an improvement in visual quality and high definition and the release of frequencies in the 694-790 MHz band, the so-called “700 band”, for 5G mobile services.

When the new technology arrives. In Italy, the change in technology will take place in two phases: the first in September 2021 and the second in June 2022. After that it will no longer be possible to receive TV channels except with new generation devices. Or with TVs equipped with decoders that are on sale starting at around 20 euros. The obligation for retailers to sell TVs compatible with the new standard was introduced from 22 December 2018, so TVs purchased after that date will be able to receive even after the transition to the new technology.
How to check the compatibility of the TV to the new signal. You can check if the TV is compatible with the new Dvb-T2 system with the new Hevc Main10 (High Efficiency Video Coding) coding system by trying to view the test channels 100 and 200 of the digital terrestrial. If the message “Test HEVC Main10” is displayed, the device is compatible with the new transmission standard.
Test HEVC Main10. However, it may happen that there are problems in displaying the screen (the channels do not show the message “Test HEVC Main10” or are blacked out) even though the TV or decoder is compatible with the Dvb-T2. In such cases, we read on the Mise website the negative result of the test could derive from: incorrect (but temporary) reception of the two channels; the momentary presence of another broadcaster on the channel; from the fact that your TV is unable to connect to the most recent frequencies. Therefore, before buying a new decoder or a new TV, it is always advisable to carry out a retuning; only if, even after this operation, you are unable to view the test screen, to continue watching TV programs you will need to buy a new TV.
Who is entitled to the incentive. The TV bonus is reserved for families with Isee up to 20 thousand euros. The total budget foreseen is around 150 million euros. The bonus is paid in the form of a discount applied by the seller on the price of the purchased product.
How to get the discount. To have the incentive, citizens must submit a request to the seller (download the form here) to buy a TV or a decoder benefiting from the bonus. To this end, they must declare that they are resident in Italy and belong to an Isee family unit that does not exceed € 20,000 and that other members of the same unit have not already benefited from the bonus. To verify that a TV or a decoder are among the products for which it is possible to take advantage of the bonus, a list of “suitable” products is available.
Sellers operating in Italy, including those of electronic commerce, who intend to join the initiative, must register on the telematic platform made available by the Revenue Agency, as also indicated in the User Guide of the “Bonus TV” application which provides detailed instructions on the procedures to follow for the sale of products that are entitled to the bonus.
