I am a Instagram influence, and it took me a good 3 years to reach 100,000 followers. Being an influencer on social media, be it Instagram, Facebook, Twitter or any other social media platform, is easier said than done. It takes a lot of effort, hard work, persistence, and dedication to become a successful influencer on Instagram and make money.

In this post, I’m going to share everything I followed to become an influencer and get to that level. Instagram is all about pictures, but just placing the pictures doesn’t make you an influencer. You need to follow certain strategies in order to get a good number of loyal followers and get good engagement on your posts.

This is something very important. Don’t just dive into Instagram; You have to first decide that you want to become an influencer on Instagram. You have to accept the fact that it won’t be easy or quick. You have to work patiently and consistently for some of the first few years to get good and loyal followers on Instagram.

2]Choose a niche

When you’ve made up your mind, choose your niche. Think, think, and think again. What could your niche be? What can you do best? What can you give your followers? What would someone follow you? These are a few questions to help you decide your niche.

Don’t start with something you just want. Make sure you are good at this because there is no room for average on Instagram. They have to be at least good, if not great. Pick something to stick on. Don’t start with fashion and then jump to food, travel, or tech. It’s not always important that you are good at something you enjoy doing, so think well and then choose your niche.

Let me give you an example, I love doing makeup, but I’m not good at it so I shouldn’t be choosing beauty as my primary niche.

All you have to do is select the business account while creating an account on Instagram. However, you can also convert your existing private account into a business account.

Why a business account?

Because only in a business account can you check all your findings, such as who all your followers are, their gender, their age, etc. When your followers are most active on Instagram, from which city or country your followers come and much more .

These insights will help you better understand your audience and will surely help you get more engagements on your posts. Post what your audience likes and also check out when they are most active. This should be your posting time on Instagram.

Plus, with a business account, you can make better use of your bio information, add CTA buttons, run ads, and get more followers and engagements.

Note: You cannot run ads through your private or personal Instagram account.

4]Write an effective bio

Your bio on Instagram or any other social media platform is your digital introduction, make it as effective as possible. Instagram only allows you to use 30 characters, so don’t waste that space on fancy words or symbols. Make your bio short and sweet.

Keep it simple and straight forward, something that best describes you and your job. Nobody cares when you first cut your cake or when it was your first scream, so avoid such silly sentences and write who you are and what you do.

Your followers just want to know what you do, where you go, what you eat, what you wear, etc. Give them the best.

6]Know your audience

Knowing your audience well is very important. What age group do they belong to, what are their interests, what is the location. You can check their interests by analyzing your own posts. See what type of post gets the best engagement and make more posts like that. Publish what your audience wants to see and get them to stop, engage, save, and share your posts. 7]Attractive caption and relevant hashtags

Not too long, but try to include a good and engaging caption for each post. Ask questions and opinions of your followers in your caption; This forces them to engage with your post. Basically, you need to include a CTA (call to action) on your post, but make sure your caption is relevant to your post. Instagram allows 30 hashtags in one post, use them all first. You can stop using all 30 once you have a good number of followers and regular engagements.

8]Highlight brands and prepare to collaborate

Don’t forget to include your email ID on your bio so the brands and companies can approach you to collaborate. Also, be prepared to share your insights as most brands ask for the insights for your promoted content.

I would suggest that you promote the product or service that you really like and admire. Don’t make your Instagram feed a shop. Give your honest ratings and opinions to help your audience.

Start tagging the brands to get their attention. If your post is good enough, the brand can re-share it on their page, which will bring you more exposure. You can also send them direct messages to the brands relevant to your niche for the collaborations.

You never know they might shout you out and you might get some extra followers and spotlight.
