Using WhatsApp on the iPad
WhatsApp is on iPhone and opinion Android-smartphone installed, but sometimes you also want from the bigger one iPad be able to send messages. There are several ways to use WhatsApp on the iPad. The good news is that WhatsApp has been working on an iPad version since 2017. The bad news is that the app is not available yet. The fact that the app is still not here has to do with how WhatsApp is built. WhatsApp is linked to your telephone number and corresponding SIM card. Fortunately, there is a new system where you WhatsApp on multiple devices. Only once this new system is active will WhatsApp be off plan to release the iPad app. It is not yet known when that will be.
Unfortunately, WhatsApp cannot yet be downloaded as an official separate tablet app. Still, there are two ways to use WhatsApp on the iPad, namely by using the web version of WhatsApp and through third party apps.
Option 1. Use the web version of WhatsApp on the iPad
Of iOS version of WhatsApp is officially only for the iPhone available. Install the app on the iPad does not just happen. Fortunately, it is thanks WhatsApp Web still possible to use the chat service on an iPad.
- Open Safari on the iPad.
- Go to the WhatsApp webpage at this link. Make sure to open this link in Safari on the iPad. It’s best to read this tip on the iPad to get the right page right away.
- Do you get the WhatsApp general webpage first? Then tap the share icon (square with the arrow up) and request the desktop site. If you immediately get the page with the QR code, you can skip this step.
- Grab your iPhone and open WhatsApp.
- In WhatsApp, go to Settings> WhatsApp Web / Desktop.
- Aim the iPhonecamera on the iPad screen and scan the displayed QR code.
- You are now logged in to WhatsApp on the iPad.
One thing to keep in mind: the iPad is not officially supported. Although you can have WhatsApp conversations through this trick, the interface does not always work optimally. You often have to tap several times to get something done, chats are weirdly pushed away when you open the keyboard and scrolling is not really optimal. But it does work: we can read and receive messages from the iPad in our tests. Also, reports may not arrive.
