Real fans don’t seem to agree with Stewart’s choice, who has been tucked in by her own fans.
Kristen Stewart was recently announced as the chosen actress, who will play the late Princess Diana in a new film about her bitter breakup with Prince Charles, from director Pablo Larraín, something that has not pleased fans of the late Diana Spencer much.
“Kristen Stewart as Princess Diana is one of the worst castings I’ve ever heard of,” wrote one fan.
They added: “Princess Di was known for her charm and charisma and I have seen rocks with more personality than Kristen Stewart.”
Meanwhile, someone else stated, “No #KristenStewart doesn’t fit the #PrincessDiana part. She doesn’t look gentle enough to fit the role. “
But despite the backlash, many fans defended Kristen, with one person writing: “The way people are personally offended when Kristen Stewart is chosen for something is because of HIS POWER.”
Another person added: “I love Kristen Stewart in a biographical film: she always brings justice, heart, love and honor to the real women she portrays.”
Speaking to Deadline, director Pablo Larraín revealed why he chose the 30-year-old to take on a daring project and portray one of the most iconic women in history.
“Kristen is one of the great actresses of today,” Larraín told the publication.
“To do this right, you need something very important in the movie, which is mystery. Kristen can be many things, and she can be very mysterious and very fragile, and ultimately also very strong, which is what we need. ”
In a separate interview with OK! A close confidant of the actress reportedly said the actress is nervous and excited to play the iconic role.
“He definitely feels the pressure,” the source told the US publication.
They added: “Kristen remembers the day Diana died; And, like everyone else, she was obsessed with the extraordinary life of Princess Di. She hopes to do it justice. ”
The insider went on to say that even though the cast was somewhat surprising, Kristen will give it her all.
“Kristen would not have assumed the role if she had not thought she could handle it,” added the source.
