how much space do all games on SSD take up?

The GameRant editorial team tried to install all the games from the PlayStation Plus Collection su PS5 to understand how much space they take up on the internal SSD of Sony‘s nextgen console.

With the launch of PlayStation 5, buyers of the Japanese tech giant’s new home platform who own a PS Plus subscription have access to the catalog of backward compatible PS4 titles of the PS Plus Collection.

The GameRant journalists have therefore tried to put themselves in the shoes of those who want to recover all the games in the collection and who, for this reason, want to install them all together on the hard disk of their shiny console. We then leave the space required for download and install on PS5 the individual video games in the PlayStation Plus Collection, but always taking into account the fact that the values shown are susceptible to changes due to the updates and data installed based on the region they belong to:

  • Bloodborne (27.19 GB)
  • Days Gone (39.49 GB)
  • Detroit: Become Human (42.42 GB)
  • God of War (38.74 GB)
  • inFamous: Second Son (21.50 GB)
  • Ratchet and Clank (26.26 GB)
  • The Last Guardian (12.69 GB)
  • The Last of Us: Remastered (43.55 GB)
  • Until Dawn (37.85 GB)
  • Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End (47.45 GB)
  • Batman: Arkham Knight (49.46 GB)
  • Battlefield 1 (45.51 GB)
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 (56.75 GB)
  • Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy (23.3 GB)
  • Fallout 4 (32.12 GB)
  • Final Fantasy 15 (29.04 GB)
  • Monster Hunter: World (14.31 GB)
  • Mortal Kombat X (33.53 GB)
  • Person 5 (20.20 GB)
  • Resident Evil 7: Biohazard (22.16 GB)

According to the test carried out by GameRant, in order to install all the games of the PS Plus Collection on the PlayStation 5, it is necessary to reserve on your nextgen console well 663.52 GB of space, that is, almost all the memory available on the internal SSD which, despite having a nominal size of 825GB, presents an effective capacity of about 667GB.

However, it is worth pointing out the illogicality of such an operation: it is extremely unlikely that an enthusiast feels the need to play 20 games simultaneously. And this, not to mention the opportunity offered by the installation of PS4 titles on an external hard drive in backward compatibility. Anyway, did you know that you can use the games from the PS Plus Collection also on PS4 after having them redeemed on the PS5 PlayStation Store?
