In their study, published on Medrxiv, experts analyzed the stability of COVID-19 on surfaces and compared it to SARSCoV-1, the coronavirus most closely related to the new virus.

What they found was that the virus can survive about four hours on copper surfaces and up to 24 hours on cardboard. About plastic and stainless steel, it can last up to three days.

Health authorities and researchers urge the population to disinfect high contact surfaces with specialized products or with alcohol, following the instructions provided by the manufacturers and use gloves.
