How Long Does China Want to Fight?

TAIPEI – Defense Minister Taiwan , Chiu Kuo-cheng, said that defending against the invasion is a matter of willpower. He also stressed that the island’s armed forces would fight against the troops China “as long as they want to fight.”

This was disclosed by Chiu Kuo-cheng in a parliamentary session where several officials asked about the statement made by US Navy Admiral Philip Davidson.

Davidson, who serves as commander of US Indo-Pacific Command, said China could move to attack self-governing Taiwan within the next six years.

On that occasion, Chiu called Davidson’s assessment “reasonable.”

“The evaluation says six years, but my worries include six hours,” he added.

“We will look at all foreign references but cannot take them as facts,” he was quoted as saying Newsweek, Friday (19/3/2021).

He said his party was conducting an ongoing assessment of the capabilities and deployment of China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA).
