The reason for the theft of vaccines in it Hospital Regional of Comodoro Rivadavia continues its course in charge of federal judge Eva Parcio. The last decision of the magistrate was to charge the nurse Daniela Cocha again, after the Federal Chamber ruled that there was a lack of merit due to the existence of insufficient evidence against her. This led to the nurse’s lawyer, Fernando Wiernes, deciding to appeal Parcio’s accusation. Now, both parties await the resolution of the court.
It must be remembered that the federal judge confirmed that 60 doses of Sputnik V were stolen from the Regional Hospital Vaccine Chamber, for which 26 people were prosecuted in the first instance for the theft of vaccines. Four of them are employees of the Regional Hospital and the rest are part of -or are linked- to the social work of the Truckers’ Union led by former national deputy Jorge Taboada in Chubut.
“It was agreed to have a certain number of Sputnik V. Between January 6 and 7 (2021), 30 doses of Sputnik V (first component) were diverted. Between January 26 and 27 (2021), 30 more doses were diverted from the second dose of Sputnik,” Parcio explained, adding that it was possible to prove “to whom they gave it and at what time. In principle, they also applied it in the month of February.”
What the investigators are looking for is to verify that there was an economic transaction between the parties where the main target is the nurse Analía Muñoz, who is accused of simple theft in competition with passive bribery.
On the one hand, the court understood that Muñoz did not fulfill the character of a public official in charge of the care of a State asset, but that “she had access to the vaccines to fulfill the service of the application.” According to the Penal Code, penalties ranging from one to six years in prison are foreseen.
As reported by El Patagónico, the messages between Muñoz and Marcos Paura -a member of the social work of the Truckers’ Union- were key in the investigation, for which the union leader is accused of instigation to be considered a participant in the crime of bribery.
Meanwhile, Elías Guzmán, Diana Romina Cárcamo, Eduardo José Díaz Narváez, Noelia Elisa Maure, Marisa Victoria Torres, Darío Esteban Guzmán, Cecilia Noemí Alvarado, Laura Beatriz Cárcamo, Valeria Iemme Khoury, Valeria Analía Mansilla, Miguel Gastón Santana, Silvana Alejandra Taboada , Pablo Gabriel Mansilla, Vilma Nazarena Borau, Jessica Grisel Modinger, Gisel Andrea Ampuero, Cynthia Patricia Hernández, Silvio Gabriel Borau and Jorge Omar Taboada are charged with cover-up on the understanding that they received the vaccine without being a priority for the health system, although without encouragement profit.
