As usual, the impatient Elon Musk couldn’t help but say too much. Indeed, while the Starship ships are not even finished yet, the CEO of SpaceX is already seen on Mars. It’s one of the greatest desires of the businessman, this journey to the red planet could become the achievement of his phenomenal career.
However, Musk’s ambitions have so far been a bit vague. On Twitter, he reveals how he plans to set foot on Mars, while colonizing this planet. As a reminder, Elon Musk does not only want to send a few privileged people to Mars, he wants to transport a whole nation there.

According to him, its Starship vessels, which have a lifespan of 20 to 30 years, will be able to transport nearly a million humans on Mars. To do this, it will still require that 100 Starship be built per year, moreover the orbit of Earth and that of Mars must absolutely be aligned so that a ship can transport its 100,000 passengers from one planet to the ‘other.
Starship design goal is 3 flights / day avg rate, so ~ 1000 flights / year at> 100 tons / flight, so every 10 ships yield 1 megaton per year to orbit

On paper, this ambition is beautiful, however funding such a project is another matter. However, Elon Musk seems quite confident. He continues to develop at high speed his activities on Earth to successfully finance his plan. For example, his Tesla business will go a long way toward subsidizing the colonization of Mars.
Anyway, SpaceX is not about to send even one person to Mars, the Starship prototype should first be up and running. Its development has slowed down since that an explosion in full test has cooled the SpaceX teams.
