How do you involve civilians in the fight against giant hogweed?

Giant hogweed and citizen participation, the Stadswerk association is organizing a webinar on this subject on 26 May.

One of the speakers is Annerie Rutenfrans from the consultancy firm Beleef & Weet, who worked in Nijmegen as project leader of Wiedewiedenweg guided small groups of civilians who helped to combat the giant hogweed and the giant balsam. During the webinar she will tell more about the project and how other municipalities can involve citizens in the fight against invasive alien species.

The two other speakers are Baudewijn Odé from Floron and Lodewijk van Kemenade from Landscape Management Flevoland. Odé tells more about the plant itself and explains why it is important to involve citizens in the management of invasive alien species. Van Kemenade contributed to the Management Guidelines for Giant Hogweed, released in collaboration with CLM in 2020.

The Giant Hogweed & Citizen Participation webinar will take place on May 26 from 11 am to 12 noon. You can sign up here for free.
