The young athlete died under unclear circumstances. The investigation is trying to restore the chronology of events

TBILISI, Jun 27 – Sputnik Georgia.Video footage of the events in the high-profile case of the death of a young Georgian athlete was published by the Georgian prosecutor’s office on Saturday evening.
A pupil of the capital’s Saburtalo club, 19-year-old Georgy Shakarashvili was recently discovered dead in a river near Tbilisi.
According to investigators, on June 18, together with a friend, he attended a youth party in a rented house in the suburbs, where there was a conflict between the guests. Clarification of relations later moved to the highway leading to the city, where some of the participants in the conflict called for help from Tbilisi.
Witnesses claim that George left the dismantling site and headed towards the river, after which his tracks are lost. The body of a young man was discovered after four days of searches involving rescuers and divers.
An examination is underway; the cause of death has not yet been established.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs detained 17 people on charges of organizing group violence, participation in it and illegal deprivation of liberty.
The case immediately received a wide response – according to the investigation, several promising young athletes participated in the showdown. Some media outlets have also suggested that some parties to the conflict have “high patrons” and will try to avoid punishment.
The prosecutor’s office said it had decided to make public some of the videos held by the investigation, due to the high public interest in this case.

Several people return to the Mercedes, which is leaving. Over time (00.43) there is a second car – Toyota, people get out of it. The video is fuzzy, cars driving past do not let you see what is happening, after a while the Toyota leaves. The investigation claims that it was precisely when the people from Toyota appeared that Shakarashvili ran to the river with two guys.
The recording of video surveillance cameras at Didube metro ends 1:18, which recorded how a young man, presumably a friend of Shakarashvili, who accompanied him at a party and was originally named the main witness in the case, is being planted from Toyota.
The investigation suggests that the companion of the football player was “illegally imprisoned.”
The prosecutor’s office has already requested the court to detain 17 detainees in this case during the investigation.
