Today, Dr. Mohamed Salah El-Din Zaatar, head of the General Authority for Hospitals and Educational Institutes, visited the National Heart Institute to check on the institute’s staff, including medical, administrative and support services, following the discovery of a coronavirus infection after contact with a patient transferred from Mabarrah Al-Qadima Hospital on March 29.
A statement issued by the Educational Hospital Authority said: On April 5, the institute was informed by Al-Mabra Hospital that the patient was infected with the emerging coronavirus, to take necessary measures with those in contact with it.
Dr. Mohamed Salah added that the institute took the necessary measures towards the staff who were in contact with the case, and that they are 16 doctors and nurses, and the result of the analysis appeared positive for a nurse, and he was immediately transferred to the Isolation Hospital, and it was also decided to isolate the home for all the mixing crew, and the contacts of the infected nurse were also tracked from the administrators And a number of 24 people were monitored from whom smears were taken and they were given leave to isolate in their homes until the result of the smear appears.
He added that the outpatient clinic was transferred to an emergency department to receive emergency cases, take all precautionary measures, the reception section was closed and sterilized, the building was completely sterilized and disinfected, as well as periodically sterilizing the place, as a precaution and a reassurance measure.
