The Houston Texans have agreed with the Los Angeles Rams on a trade for wide receiver Brandin Cooks in Texas. In return, LA will receive a second round pick in the upcoming draft.
Specifically, the Texans send the 57th pick overall to the Rams and, in addition to Cooks, also receive a four-round pick in the Draft 2022, as several media reports unanimously.
The Rams had received Cooks before the 2018 season for a first-round pick from the New England Patriots – including their four-round pick – and then negotiated a five-year contract of $ 81 million. With the said contract, the Rams now have to accept $ 21.8 million in dead money in the 2020 season after having already paid the wide receiver $ 4 million in a squad bonus shortly after the start of the new league year.
Cooks thus played for the Rams for two years and caught 122 passes for 1787 yards and 7 touchdowns.
Cooks is entering its seventh NFL season and will do so for its fourth team. Cooks was originally the 20th pick overall in the 2014 draft for the New Orleans Saints and was traded to the Patriots in 2017.
Texans traded Hopkins nach Arizona
The Texans had previously surprisingly sent DeAndre Hopkins to Arizona in this offseason star-wide receiver and received running back David Johnson among other things.
Thanks to the Cooks trade, the Texans now only have two picks on the first two days of the NFL draft (April 23-25) – the 40th pick in round 2 from the Cardinals (for Hopkins) and their own 90. Total pick in round 3.
