Houston Symphony to Present Harry Potter and teh Sorcerer’s Stone In Concert
The Houston Symphony will present Harry potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone in Concert, a unique event pairing a full screening of the beloved film with a live orchestral performance of its iconic score. Performances are scheduled for Friday, July 21, 2017, at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday, July 22, 2017, at both 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.at Jones Hall for the Performing Arts, located at 615 Louisiana Street in houston’s Theater District.
The concert series aims to immerse audiences in the magical world of Harry Potter, allowing them to experience the film’s story and characters alongside the live music.As stated by the Harry Potter Film Concert Series,the event offers a chance to “enjoy returning to this magical world,and to the many wonderful characters that inhabit it.”
Nicholas Buc will conduct the Houston Symphony during these performances.Buc is a versatile musician, working as a composer, conductor, arranger, violinist, and pianist. He holds degrees from the University of Melbourne and New York university (where he received the Brian May Scholarship for Australian film composers).His compositions have been premiered by prominent orchestras and choirs, and he has contributed to film, television, and arrangements for popular artists including Tina Arena, The whitlams, and passenger. He has also conducted performances of Pixar in Concert, Star Trek Live in Concert, Psycho with Orchestra, and Back to the Future Live in Concert.
